Day 88
Today I practice taking advantage of whatever the weather brings. What is the literal
weather today? Take advantage of it in a way that brings you a smile.

Today started out still and calm. Cloud cover made the whole sky one big mass. Early mornings often started this way in Northern California where I spent my early formative years. Fog, cloud cover, and then by noon a brilliant blue sky with just the right amount of warmth for summer days. No rain, no change. Just more fog come evening.
I now live in Northern Colorado. Plains meet sharp incline of the Great Mother’s Spine, the Rocky Mountain Range. Crashing storms created by weather patterns I don’t understand. Dramatic shifts in what a day might bring. Starting out with a moody sky. Flowers, and ‘out of its element’ green lawn, relieved with the cool morning haze after days of scorching heat.
By noon, skies darken, burdens heavy, a rush to find cover before the immanent storm hits. The thunder and lightening start, I say a prayer that the tender plants survive. Tornado warning and watch, severe. I wait and am grateful to be safe in my home. Hail, torrential rain, loud booms. Continuous.
Today I took advantage of the weather by letting it be. No complaints, for this too shall pass. I let it be, for I learned long ago that Mother Nature will always have much more power than I. And as all things, it comes and goes. And as all things it leaves the possibility to shift, change, clear, enhance or detract.
I can align with her force and my own nature. I can be a force of nature myself.
I use the weather and this prompt as encouragement to feel as Mother Nature does, to live true to my nature, and to express unapologetically. To reenforce that which is helpful and supportive, to let leave, that which is harmful or detracting. To remind myself that in this moment I am safe and held and loved. I respect her. I respect myself.
I live amongst the elements and am made of such, so therefore I, (as are you) am a force of nature.
Love,
Mary
